Many people will take an Inspectors word that they actually have the qualifications they claim to hold. Don't get caught trusting your investment to an unqualified Inspector.

To ensure that your inspector has the qualifications they claim to have, check them out on the links below;

Associations

Membership in OAHI  attest to an inspector's competence and professionalism.

The Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI) with the support of CMHC, Human Resources and Social Development Canada and the Construction Sector Council, developed a voluntary national accreditation and certification program to help ensure the competency and professionalism of home inspectors. Home inspectors who have met the requirements of this national certification program are designated National Certificate Holders. To obtain this designation inspectors must demonstrate that they have a broad knowledge of construction and building practices and that they have acquired three components for qualification: basic skills specific to the practice of home inspection; technical background acquired through education and experience related to building science; and practical home inspection. Finally, they must pass an exam comprised of a home inspection in front of peers.

The NEHA National Radon Proficiency Program is the leading certification program for radon professionals in North America. There are no certification programs available in Canada at this time. Certification can be obtained ONLY from the US based NEHA-NRPP.
